It’s been several decades since men were liberated from the long and involved business of shaving. No, we’re not referring to The Sixties and its counterculture of hippies; it was shaving cream in a can, and it was 1949.

To use, you’ll need a shaving brush and sharp razor (don’t pull out some random razor your wife probably used on her legs). Wet your brush and beard with warm water, giving each a good shake to remove excess liquid. Move your brush in circles over the soap, working it into the bristles and whipping up a sudsy lather. Once satisfied, start to work the brush and lather into your beard. A little extra warm water may be needed to develop the desired consistency. Now that your beard is sufficiently moisturized and softened, it’s time to shave.
